Meeting Subject:  Data Storage Wars

Description

Every organization is facing the challenge of managing its unstructured data. This presentation is a case study of how one organization is tackling this issue by implementing an organization wide process to ingest shared drive and SharePoint files into a repository that can apply retention automatically. William will be discussing the ups and downs experienced while implementing the solution and working through individual network drives to ingest for access, holds, and ultimately disposition.

Our speaker: William Basinger

William Basinger graduated in 1998 with a BA from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX.  He spent 7 years as a contracts administrator in telecommunications before joining the Records Management ranks in 2007 where he managed an in-house records center at AT&T Wi-Fi Services.  William spent 11 years at BBVA USA where he started managing vendor consolidation, retention schedule creation, and training development. He rose to VP for the Information Lifecycle Management team there and led the team to implement an electronic information management solution to organize and manage the structured and unstructured data across the company’s footprint.  Today he has accepted a position at PNC as their Program Manager for eRecords.

William has been an active member of ARMA since 2007.  He has served on the Austin ARMA Board as Newsletter Editor, Webmaster Co Chair, Vice President, President, and Immediate Past President.  He is currently a Chapter Advisor on the Southwest Region leadership team for Governance and Operations.  He achieved his CRM in Mar of 2016 and received his certificate in Understanding the Generally Accepted Record Keeping Principles (the Principles) in 2014.
