Speaker Bios:

RJ Mauro, MLIS, IGP


RJ is the Team Lead for Enterprise Content and Records Management at Valero and has experience across local government and the energy sector, leading projects in electronic records management, digitization, training, and information security. An active ARMA member and director on the ARMA International Board, she also teaches Records and Information Management at the University of Denver. Outside of work, RJ loves family road trips and exploring national parks.

Cheryl Strom, MBA, IGP, CIGO


Cheryl Strom is the Records Information Sr. Manager at McDonald’s Corporation, leading Corporate Records & Information Management (RIM) and Office Services Programs. With nearly 30 years at McDonald’s, she develops and executes RIM and IG strategies to protect Brand McDonald’s and mitigate risks. Cheryl holds an MBA in Finance and a BA in Business Administration and Political Science from Dominican University, IL, and has earned her IGP and CIGO certifications. She has over 30 years of experience in legal, records & information management, real estate, and banking industries. Cheryl is a member of ARMA, AIIM, and The Sedona Conference, and she has spoken at various conferences and educational sessions on RIM and IG topics. She has been the Treasurer for the ARMA Chicago Chapter since 2019.


David Cohen


David chairs Reed Smith’s Records & E-Discovery (RED) Practice Group and is a member of the firm’s Global Leadership Team. A Harvard Law graduate with more than 35 years of commercial litigation experience, David serves as e-discovery counsel and information governance counsel to some of the top companies in the world. David also represents clients in complex litigation matters and counsels companies of all sizes on information governance and emerging technology issues. He has won multiple innovation, technology, and leadership awards, and has been recognized individually by Chambers Global, Chambers USA, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, and Who’s Who Legal. The 70+ lawyer RED Practice Group that David leads has also been recognized by Chambers and Legal 500 as a leading e-discovery practice. He is the principal architect of Reed Smith’s E-Discovery App, chairs the EDRM Project Trustees, and is on the advisory board of the Georgetown Advanced eDiscovery Institute. He has served as a court-appointed E-Discovery Special Master in multiple cases and has helped to draft and support amendments to state and federal rules focusing on e-discovery. He has authored numerous legal publications and is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education and judicial training seminars regarding e-discovery, cross-border discovery, artificial intelligence, and information governance.

Jessica Harman, CRM


Jessica Harman is a seasoned business professional with a degree in Information Management and a CRM. She specializes in digital IT business solutions, data enablement, business intelligence, and records management. Jessica has a proven track record of managing complex projects and delivering impactful results. An active participant in industry seminars and conferences, her presentations are known for their clarity, depth, and practical relevance.


Margaret Hermesmeyer, IGP, CRM


Margaret is currently serving as Director and Immediate Past Chair of the ARMA International Board of Directors (BOD). She has served ARMA International in several roles including Chair of the BOD for the 2023 - 2024-year and as Director on the ARMA International Board for the 2015 - 2018-term. She also served on several ARMA International task forces including two resulting in the IGBOK and the RIM Core Competencies publications. At the chapter level, she has served on the Austin ARMA Chapter BOD in various positions including Chapter President.

Margaret’s career includes over 25 years’ experience in records and information management. She is a CRM, an IGP, and holds a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from The University of Texas at Austin. She has served in several state government positions including Chief of the Information Governance and Logistical Operations Division at the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, Chair of the Texas Records Management Interagency Coordinating Council, Government Information Analyst at the Texas State Library & Archives Commission – State & Local Records Management Division, University Registrar at The University of Texas - Permian Basin, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, School of Information. As an experienced records and information management professional, she finds inspiration in helping foster a robust profession full of opportunities for upcoming information professionals.

Ryan Zilm, CEDS, CRM, CIP, IGP, FAI


Ryan has been an active contributor to the Information Management and Technology profession for more than 29 years and is currently the Director of Information Governance & Privacy for SJW Group, a privately-held water utility company. Before that, he was employed with Baker Hughes as a Senior Director, overseeing the Records & Information Compliance Program based in Houston, Texas. He received his MBA from the U. of Texas at San Antonio, has a BA in Administrative Leadership from the U. of Oklahoma, has multiple industry-related certifications, and has participated in developing many foundational resources supporting associated information-related communities. Ryan has also served as Past President of the ARMA International Board of Directors, was the ICRMs Mentor of the Year in 2024, and was inducted into the ARMA Company of Fellows in October 2022.

Ashley Fischer, CIPP/US

Ashley Fischer is the General Counsel for Tiff’s Treats, an ecommerce cookie delivery company headquartered in Austin, Texas. Ashley is licensed to practice law in Texas and Oregon and is CIPP/US certified. Prior to joining Tiff’s Treats, Ashley worked in-house at H-E-B, a grocery retail company, Marathon Petroleum, a refining, logistics, and marketing company, and Sirius Computer Solutions, a technology value added reseller. She got her start in law by working as outside counsel in a general practice firm. Ashley graduated from Texas A&M University, College Station and St. Mary's University School of Law.

Elizabeth Rogers, CIPP/US

Elizabeth is a technology-focused business attorney concentrating on data privacy and cybersecurity, with a rich background encompassing regulatory compliance, cybersecurity risk management, and privacy law. With past roles as both Chief Privacy Officer and General Counsel, she brings a unique blend of in-house insight and legal acumen to her practice. Elizabeth guides clients through comprehensive privacy and cyber risks, and offers pragmatic solutions that align with business objectives.

Elizabeth has extensive experience and qualifications to assist businesses in compliance with the recently enacted and pending state consumer data privacy laws, including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, which goes into effect on July 1, 2024.

John Isaza, Esq., FAI


John Isaza is the founder of Isaza Law, a boutique law firm focusing on records and information management, information governance, privacy and AI. Prior to forming this law firm he was a Partner at Rimon Law, where he headed the Privacy, Records and Information Governance practice from his office in Boston. He is the co-founder of Information Governance Solutions (IGS) featuring Virgo™, a cloud-based software for records information management and global research, sold to Access Corp in January of 2020. Mr. Isaza is one of the world’s foremost experts in the field of privacy and information governance. He has developed global privacy, information governance and records retention programs for some of the most highly regulated Global 1000 companies. He is co-author of 7 Reasonable Steps for Legal Holds, 7 Steps for Legal Holds of ESI & Other Documents, a contributing author to the ABA’s Internet Law for the Business Lawyer, 2nd Edition, as well as Editor-in-Chief and co-author of Handbook on Global Social Media Law for Business Lawyers. Mr. Isaza is past co-Chair of the American Bar’s Social Media Subcommittee as well as the Consumer Privacy and Data Analytics Subcommittee, past Chair of the IGP Certification Board, and a Fellow of ARMA International. John is a graduate of the University of Florida (with High Honors in 3 years) and Boston College Law School. He is also fluent in Spanish (his native tongue), proficient in French and German, and currently learning Russian.

For in person attendees, we will meet at the Austin Energy Headquarters located at 4815 Mueller Blvd, Austin, TX 78723. Enter the garage on Garcia street. Free visitor parking is on the left. 


Please be sure to park in the Austin Energy garage. You will not be required to pull a ticket. Limited parking is available on the street.
